The
German Bromeliad Society
Plants create bonds that was the idea
of a handfull of Bromeliad enthusiasts in 1970
and they thus founded the German Bromeliad
Society. Under the leadership of Dr. Gustav
Schoser, the director of the Frankfurter
Palmengarten at that time, leading scientists,
plant breeders and plant collectors worked
together to establish a new platform for this
plant group and to achieve wider public
attention.
The targets which were formulated at the time
information exchange on cultural issues,
participation in exhibitions, regular meetings,
cultivating regular contact between members, the
support and release of scientific works to the
public are still relevant today.
As a result of this, the member magazine
The Bromeliad has been able to
introduce and describe innuberable new
discoveries in bromeliad-species over the years.
At present we have 365 registered members,
including 34 institutions like botanical gardens
and other plant societies. We have registered
members from the following countries:
Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brasil,
France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Luxemburg,
Madiera, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Austria,
Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Taiwan, Hungary, the
USA and Venezuela.
